LASER HAIR REMOVAL

LASER SERVICES

LASER HAIR REMOVAL

If you're not happy with shaving, tweezing, or waxing to remove unwanted hairlaser hair removal may be a good option for you. Lasers can be used to remove unwanted hair from the face, leg, arm, underarm, bikini line, and other areas. Lasers selectively target dark, coarse hairs while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged. Each pulse of the laser takes a fraction of a second and can treat many hairs at the same time. The laser can treat an area approximately the size of a quarter every second. Small areas such as the upper lip can be treated in less than a minute, and large areas, such as the back or legs, may take up to an hour. Most patients have permanent hair loss after an average of three to seven sessions.

LASER MOLE REMOVAL

LASER MOLE REMOVAL

Removing a mole using a laser involves numbing the area using local anesthesia. Afterwards, a laser is used to excise the pigmentation in the mole. The pigment is then cleared away by the body’s natural healing processes. A scab forms over the mole which eventually falls away.

The area may turn darker for a few days after the procedure. However, this can be covered up by cosmetics. Patients should avoid exposing the area to sunlight for at least six weeks and use sunscreen when they are outside.

The procedure is generally safe and the risk of scarring is minimal (about 1 percent). Whether or not it is painful depends a lot on the patient’s pain threshold. Some people report feeling a slight tingling during the procedure that feels like someone is snapping a rubber band against their skin.

FRACTIONAL LASER SKIN RESURFACING
image14.png

FRACTIONAL LASER SKIN RESURFACING

Vaporizing the outer layer of the skin stimulates collagen production, and the skin restructures itself as it heals.

Fractional laser restructuring can get rid of:

1. Unwanted lesions
2. Smooth out acne scars
3. Reduce scars and,
4. Correct irregular pigmentation
5. Reduce dark circles around eyes and reduce lower eyelid baggies

Although this treatment can deliver dramatic results and significant improvement in deeper wrinkles, it will not obliterate severely sagging skin or deep wrinkling, and it's not a good treatment option for anyone with very dark skin.
Fractional lasers usually require topical anesthesia before the procedure. Plan on 5-8 days of downtime.

LASER VEIN REMOVAL

LASER VEIN REMOVAL

Laser vein treatments enable removal of unwanted small and large spider veins in a few treatments.  We use our knowledge of anatomy and plan treatments carefully to ensure the best cosmetic outcome.  We utilize the most effect laser technology for this purpose.

During a Laser Leg Vein treatment, we will apply ultrasound gel to the area being treated.  The laser is then applied in “pulses” to the entire area.  Cool air is blown on the area during the treatment to minimize discomfort and prevent side effects.  Depending on the extent of the veins, each treatment takes between 15-60 minutes.  Subsequent treatments are performed at 4 to 12 week intervals.

LASER SKIN TAG REMOVAL
image16.png

LASER SKIN TAG REMOVAL

Skin tags are just folds of flesh that hang loosely from the skin. While there is no proven cause of skin tags, and no studies to back up that some people are more genetically susceptible to them, the common theory is that they are caused by friction, from skin rubbing against skin, or clothing, or even jewelry. This is why they’re common in places like under the arms, the neck areabuttocksgenitals, and around the eyes. They can literally appear anywhere.

Laser removal is an effective way to eliminate them, and isn’t as invasive as you might think. We will use a mild anesthetic or numbing agent on your skin to keep the treatment from being at all painful, and the lasers will burn the skin tags off your body. It doesn’t sound pleasant, but it’s not as bad as it sounds. Most patients say they experience only a mild discomfort, if that.

We use a type of radiofrequency laser that leaves absolutely no scarring behind, and since it’s an outpatient service, you can expect very little pain, even after the treatment is completed. Depending on where your skin tags are located, and how many you have, treatments will take just 15 to 20 minutes, and you’ll be completely alert the whole time, without having to endure the actual effects of the laser on your skin.

PLATELET-RICH PLASMA THERAPY

PLATELET-RICH PLASMA THERAPY

The Science: Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) skin rejuvenation

What is PRP?

PRP is a natural product created from your own body. A small amount of blood is drawn from you and placed in a sterile tube that is spun down in a centrifuge to separate the different components of the blood. Red and white blood cells are divided from the platelets and the plasma (the clear fluid). This plasma now contains a higher than normal number of platelets and is called platelet rich plasma, or PRP.

Why Platelets Rejuvenate Skin

Platelets are the cells in the blood that help tissue to heal and grow new cells. The PRP, injected into specific areas of the skin, act as a matrix that promotes your own collagen to grow, regenerates tissue, and thus acts as to naturally smooth and tighten the skin. In this way, PRP softens wrinkles and creating smoother skin texture and tone.

CUTERA XEO PEARL RESURFACE

cutera xeo pearl resurface

In this procedure, the topmost layer of skin is treated with pulses of light. The procedure is fast, comfortable, and does not require a long period of downtime to recover. Some patients may feel a slight tingling sensation, but nothing serious to worry about. After about three to four days, the dressing that was done begins to peel off and vibrant, youthful, and healthy skin becomes visible.

Benefits of the Cutera Pearl Fractional Laser Skin Treatment

The biggest benefit of this treatment is that it helps completely eradicate sun damaged skin on the surface and brings out the healthier, more beautiful skin that lies underneath. In addition to this, the Cutera Pearl Fractional Laser also delivers energy to the deeper layers of skin, triggering an increase in the production of collagen.

The increase in collagen production helps contribute to a more beautiful and youthful appearance as it helps to improve skin texture and fades out wrinkles and fine lines. This boost in collagen production will last for several weeks after the procedure, allowing you to see continuous improvements over a period of time.

The main difference between the Cutera Pearl fractional laser resurfacing treatment and the fractional treatment is that this treatment fulfills more than one requirement. It has the ability to treat multiple areas and reduces the number of treatment sessions patients have to go through to achieve their ideal look.

TITAN INFARED SKIN TIGHTENING

Titan Infrared Skin Tightening

How do I know if I need Titan?

Titan is perfect for anyone who is looking to tighten and lift their jowls, neck, cheeks, and forehead. You should not have treatment if you are pregnant or have been on Accutane within the past 3 months. If you have a pacemaker, internal defibrillator, or metal implants you may not have radiofrequency treatments, but you may be treated with the Titan. If you are diabetic, have autoimmune disease, have recently been treated with chemotherapy, or are over 65, you may need more treatments to achieve less effect due to possible slow collagen production.  We can prescribe prophylactic medications prior to treatment.

How does Titan work?

Titan has been FDA indicated for the temporary relief of minor joint pain associated with arthritis, temperature increase in local circulation where applied, and relaxation of muscles. Tissue tightening is not meant to replace surgical procedures such as face, eyelid, and neck lifts, but it is a good option for people who have mild-moderate changes and who understand that the results are noticeable but modest. These procedures represent an important and recent advance allowing dermasurgeons to achieve 3-dimensional rejuvenation of the face and body without surgery.  The Titan utilizes a pulsed broadband infrared source of 850-3000nm. Thermage uses radiofrequency.

These procedures can be somewhat uncomfortable during treatment but are not unusually so after. It can feel like a "hot pinch" toward the end of each pulse. You need to feel some warmth and a little bit of discomfort but not outright pain in order for the proper energy to be delivered. Occasionally oral pain pre-medication may be taken for someone who is especially fearful or intolerant of discomfort.

What benefits can I expect?

Certain light energies and radiofrequency energy can be used to heat deeper layers of the skin while protecting the surface of the skin. This heating activates fibroblasts signaling new collagen to form and existing collagen to tighten over time.

It is important that you understand that the results may take up to 6 months to be appreciated and that they are not expected to achieve the same degree of improvement as surgical procedures.

Improvement with Titan may be seen in three to five treatments. Although in some patients the results from a treatment are seen immediately, in most patients they will appear gradually over 2-6 months.

What are the risks and side effects?

The mild discomfort and lack of definite immediate improvement are the most commonly noted negatives for tissue tightening. The protocol methods for performing tissue tightening treatments have changed since the release of these devices. The discomfort has decreased with these changes and the chance for more immediate improvement has increased. To evaluate results, we have patients come in for follow-up evaluations visits six months following the treatments.

Short-term immediate risks include prolonged redness at the area being treated, although this usually dissipates before you leave the office or within a couple of hours. Swelling can occur and could last for a few days to a week. In some rare instances, swelling and redness have lasted several weeks. The treatment area may also become temporarily white (blanching) following a treatment. Blanching typically resolves within 24 hours.

Nobody is sure how long the effects last. We know that most people get at least 1-2 years of effect from their procedure but no definitive studies on long-term effect have been undertaken.

There is a very low chance (less than 1%) that other side effects may be experienced. The potential other side effects are bruising, skin wound, infection and scarring, hypo (too little) and hyper (too much) pigmentation, alter sensation, and surface irregularities.

How will I look and feel during and after the treatment?

Tissue tightening treatments have no downtime and you can return to your normal activities the same day.  Immediately after the treatment(s), there may be some redness or swelling at the area being treated, which usually dissipates within the hour or by the end of the day but rarely persists for a few days. You are able to apply makeup or sunscreen immediately after the procedure and go back to your daily activities.

Can this be combined with other treatments?

These treatments may be combined with other treatment methods or may be done individually. BOTOX Cosmetic and injectable fillers are commonly combined to achieve a more dramatic effect than by itself. Virtually any procedure (even post or pre-surgery) may be combined with tissue tightening. Also tissue tightening does not preclude you from having additional treatments in the future or undergoing surgery.
